The Craig County Board of Supervisors approved a proposal Aug. 6 to provide work cell phones for sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical services workers.
Deputy Robert Wrzosek briefed the board on concerns surrounding the use of personal cell phones for work purposes, saying the practice could jeopardize deputies and EMS personnel.
Wrzosek said he contacted T-Mobile and received two plan options. One option was a $273 group plan that includes data and text messaging, as well as free phones.
Wrzosek asked the board to support work phones for deputies and EMS workers. Supervisor Jordan Labiosa made a motion to proceed with the cell phone plan, and Supervisor Jordan Labiosa seconded the motion.
The motion passed unanimously. Supervisors Labiosa, Brian Lipes, Raymond Christian, Carl Bailey and Board Chair Jesse Spence voted in favor.
