The Craig County Board of Supervisors recognized Solid Waste Manager Artley Bowman for 32 years of service to the county and appointed Amanda Tusing as a parent representative to the Community Policy and Management Team during its July 2 meeting.
The board adopted a proclamation expressing gratitude to Bowman for his service and dedication to Craig County.
According to the proclamation, Bowman has provided dependable and reliable management of the county’s solid waste and recycling services, helping ensure quality and efficient service for the community.
The proclamation also recognized Bowman’s efforts in addressing the challenges associated with solid waste management, including regulatory requirements, environmental concerns and financial considerations.
The board noted that Bowman has overseen waste collection, directed landfill and recycling operations, and guided public education efforts related to responsible waste reduction and recycling.
The proclamation stated that Bowman’s work has helped safeguard the county’s natural resources, protect public health and ensure efficient and environmentally responsible solid waste management.
During the same meeting, the board approved a resolution appointing Tusing as a parent representative to the Community Policy and Management Team.
The team is established under the Virginia Department of Social Services and is responsible for managing services and funds through the Children’s Services Act for At-Risk Youth and Families.
According to the resolution, Tusing had previously served as a parent representative on the team. Her reappointment was recommended, and the Board of Supervisors approved the appointment.
