Craig County Public Schools has released its bus route schedule for the 2026-27 school year.
School bus routes and approximate first pickup times are as follows:
Bus 16 — Ricky Smith (Johns Creek): First pickup is approximately 7:10 a.m. at the Grannys Branch Road/Johns Creek Road intersection. The route proceeds to turn around back to the left onto Dicks Creek Road, to a designated stop at Tup Run, Route 311, and then proceeds to school.
Bus 3 — Deven Huffman (Lower Craigs Creek/Camp Mitchell): First pickup is approximately 7:10 a.m. The route travels along Craig Creek Road to Howard Hannah Road, with a designated stop at the turn around back to a Left Craig Creek Road/Left Caldwell Mountain Road. It then turns around at Route 614/Left Craig Creek Road to Right Peaceful Valley Road/Right Fenwick Mine Road/Left Dart Road, turns around back Right Craig Creek Road/Left Hawkins Lane, turns around and back Left Craig Creek Road/Right Virginia Mineral Springs Road/Left Craig Creek Road/Right on to Fifth Street/Right on Maple Avenue/Right on Fourth Street/back to Craigs Creek, then proceeds to Camp Mitchell Road. The bus picks up along Camp Mitchell/Peacewoods to school.
Bus 5 — Shelton Fowler (Upper Craigs Creek, Route 311 and town): First pickup is approximately 7:07 a.m. The route starts at Canterbury Church on Upper Craigs Creek Road, picking up students along Upper Craigs Creek Road. It turns right onto Craig Valley Drive on Route 311 and travels to the Craig/Roanoke County line, where it turns around to pick up stops on Route 311. The route then turns right on Broad Run Road, turns around to the right on Craig Valley Drive and picks up students along Craig Valley Drive. It turns right onto Conrad Street at approximately 7:50 a.m., turns right on Marshall Avenue, right on Holcombe Avenue, left on Wagners Mill Road, left on Allen Street and then proceeds to school.
Bus 12 — Leslie Fisher (Red Brush): First pickup is approximately 7:10 a.m. on Peaceful Valley Road at Wolfe’s to Right Barbours Creek Road, then turns around at Forest Road and travels back right on Peaceful Valley Road/Right Sage Brush Lane/Right Red Brush Road to turn around/Right Peaceful Valley Road/Left Paint Bank Road, picking up both sides of Peters Hill to Aps Knob and Flats. The route continues left on Market Street, right on Middle Street, right on Main Street and right on Salem Avenue, then picks up at the corner of Salem Avenue and Market before proceeding to school. The bus picks up at 8:05 a.m. and drops off at 3:25 p.m. at the Craig County Child Care Center.
Bus 1 — David Looney (Simking Creek): First pickup is approximately 7:10 a.m. at the county line on Cumberland Gap Road to designated stops. At the bottom of the mountain, the route turns left on Yoder Street, turns around at the top of the hill and picks up at the last house on the right coming out. It then travels to 615, turns right on Commerce Avenue, right on Route 61 and proceeds to school.
Bus 7 — Kay Hutchinson (Scratch Ankle, Cuba and Craig City): First pickup is approximately 7:35 a.m. at the corner of Albert Street and Salem Avenue. The route proceeds to Wagner Street, turns right on Cumberland Avenue, right on Conrad Street, left on Marshall Street, merges onto Middle Street, turns right on Route 615, then left on Sixth Street, with a stop at Mountain View apartments. It turns left on Seventh Street, right on Ninth Street and stops at the Boulevard to Danny Wolfe’s driveway, then turns around. The route turns left on 12th Street, turns right on Forest Avenue, left on CC Mountain Road to Ash Avenue, turns around left on Park Avenue, left on Chestnut Street, right on Fifth Street and proceeds to school.
Bus 11 — George Foster (Paint Bank): First pickup is approximately 7:20 a.m. on Potts Creek Road. The route turns around and returns to the left onto Paint Bank Road to Route 615 before proceeding to school.
Bus 2 — Wanda Looney (42 Back Roads): First pickup is at 7:10 a.m. at Route 630. The route turns right on Route 629, then takes a left on 628, a right on Cumberland Gap Road, a left on Bethel Church Road, a right on Little Mountain Road, a left on Cumberland Gap Road to Town Hill, a left on Salem Avenue and a right on Market Street before proceeding to school.
Craig County Public Schools noted that students’ first few days on the bus may be adjusted as school officials determine the exact number of students on each route.
