Craig County voters will have multiple opportunities to cast ballots ahead of the Aug. 4 dual primary election, including expanded weekend early voting options, according to the Craig County Voter Registration Office.

The dual primary election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 4. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Democratic primary ballot will include the race for member of the House of Representatives, while the Republican primary ballot will include the race for United States Senate. Sample ballots are available through the Craig County Voter Registration Office and on the county’s elections website.

Early voting began June 18 and continues through Aug. 1 at the Voter Registration Office, located at 155 Main St. in New Castle. Early voting hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The county will also offer weekend voting opportunities. The Voter Registration Office will be open for in-person early voting from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays, July 19 and July 26, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, July 25 and Aug. 1. Aug. 1 is the final day of early voting.

Important election deadlines include July 24, the deadline for voter registration applications and absentee ballot applications. Registration applications must be received by the office by 5 p.m. or postmarked by that date. Absentee ballot applications must be received by the Registrar’s Office by 5 p.m.

County election officials are also seeking additional Officers of Election to work at precincts on Election Day. Officers of Election assist with administering elections and helping voters at polling locations.

Individuals interested in serving as an Officer of Election may apply online, call the Voter Registration Office at 540-864-6190 or email vote@craigcountyva.gov for more information.

On Election Day, all polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Absentee ballot drop-off stations will be available at all precincts and at the Voter Registration Office.

For additional information about the election, voting options or sample ballots, contact the Craig County Voter Registration Office at 540-864-6190 or visit the county elections website.
