The Craig County softball team made the Region 1C tournament and drew a strong Grayson County team in the opening round. The Blue Devils improved to 14-8 and advanced in the tournament with a 20-0 win in Independence last week.
“It was a mixture of Grayson’s solid hitting and our fielding errors and mental mistakes,” said Craig coach Elaina Wolfe-Carper. “They cleaned it up in the third and fourth innings, but the damage had already been done. We also struggled against their pitcher.”
Craig had two hits in the game, both by Kallie Fisher. The Rockets finished in third place in the Pioneer District and will return nine of 13 players from this year’s team.
