Seniors Layla Dooley and Jaycob Wolfe were selected to be Craig County’s B’nai B’rith Award winners for the 2024-25 school year. The award recognizes high school athletes who are outstanding in athletics, scholarship and personal life. Each school in the Roanoke Valley area names one boy and one girl for the award, and they’re invited to a banquet at the Hotel Roanoke.
At that time one girl and one boy from the entire 20 school area is named the overall winner. The award was initiated in 1951 by the Israel Friedlander Lodge of Roanoke. Dooley competed in volleyball and softball for the Rockets and Wolfe was outstanding in football, basketball and baseball.
Both were also good students and involved in community activities. The banquet was scheduled for Monday of this week.
