Craig County Public Schools is now accepting applications for its 2026-27 preschool program through the Virginia Preschool Initiative, according to a recent announcement from the school division.
The program is open to children who will be 4 years old by Sept. 30, 2026.
The Virginia Preschool Initiative, or VPI, is a needs-based program, and acceptance is determined through an application review process. Priority will be given to children whose family or educational circumstances most closely align with VPI eligibility guidelines.
Children and grandchildren of full-time employees may also apply for the Helping Hands program. Students considered for Helping Hands must qualify as eligible peer mentors and also be 4 years old by Sept. 30, 2026.
Applications are due by June 12. Families will be notified of placement decisions by July 10.
Families may apply online for consideration for both the VPI and Helping Hands programs.
