The Craig County girls defeated Highland County last week to pick up their first volleyball win of the season. The Rockets won the Pioneer District match in four sets in Monterey.
“We had a great game against Highland,” said coach Suzanne Crawford. “Everyone got playing time, played well, and executed our game plan.”

The Rockets played at North Cross a night later and lost in three, 25-15, 25-10 and 25-12.
Then, on Thursday, they played their third match in as many nights when Narrows came to New Castle. The visiting Green Wave won that one to improve to 7-2 while the Rockets fell to 1-7. The score was 25-17, 25-10 and 25-20 in favor of the Wave.
“We missed a lot of serves and our blocking was off, but these are manageable areas we can address in practice,” said Crawford.
This week Craig was scheduled to host Parry McCluer on Tuesday for a Pioneer District match. On Thursday they head to Elliston for a district match against Eastern Montgomery and next Monday Bland is here for a non-district match.
