Craig County officials have launched a new county website and emergency notification system designed to improve access to government information, services and public safety updates.
The new website, developed with a mobile-responsive design, features an ADA-compliant platform intended to make county information easier for residents to access and navigate. County officials said the site incorporates elements of the Craig County Mural throughout its design and provides streamlined access to government services and information.
Visitors can access county government information, department listings, resources for residents and a link to the county’s tourism website through the site’s main navigation menu.
The website also includes quick-access links to the Craig County Municipal Code, Geographic Information System (GIS), Board of Supervisors agendas and minutes, and Transfer Station hours.
Residents will find a news and announcements section featuring county notices such as Transfer Station closures, drought advisories, requests for proposals and septic pump-out programs. The site also includes calendars for county meetings and community events.
“As you continue to scroll down you will see a calendar with up-to-date meetings, and an events calendar will list up and coming events throughout the county, so you can join in, we would love to see you neighbor!” said Amy Bryson, Craig County administration executive assistant and deputy clerk.
Trace Bellassai, chair of the Craig County Technology Committee, said the website is part of a broader effort to modernize county operations and improve communication with residents.
“We are excited to help move Craig County into a more modern and connected future, and this new website is just one of several initiatives the Craig County Technology Committee is working on,” Bellassai said. “Our goal is to leverage technology to improve county efficiency, enhance communication, and make it easier for citizens to access the information and services they need.”
Bellassai said officials believe the new website will encourage greater engagement with county government by making information easier to find and services more accessible.
The website also expands resources available through the county’s Building and Zoning Office. According to Building Inspector and Code Official Brandon King, the site includes a frequently asked questions page addressing common questions about building, zoning and permitting requirements.
The page also provides links to the county’s online permitting and code complaint systems, as well as downloadable forms.
In addition to the website launch, Craig County announced a new emergency and community alert system powered by CivicPlus.
The notification system will allow county officials to send alerts directly to residents through text messages, phone calls and email.
Officials said notifications may include severe weather alerts, emergency notifications, road closures, public safety information, water or utility advisories, and community announcements.
“Residents are encouraged to sign up to ensure they receive timely and accurate information during emergencies and other important events,” said Robert Wrzosek, Craig County 911 coordinator and deputy sheriff.
County officials said the alert system is intended to improve communication, enhance public safety and provide residents with important information when needed.
Residents can sign up for alerts and notifications or create an account through the county website to receive updates and engage with county government.
