The Craig County Public Library hopes to curb worry for local families with the fourth year of Summer Feeding thanks to a partnership with Feeding Southwest VA, No Kid Hungry, and Amazon. The 2026 Summer Feeding Program registration is currently open for all children 18 years of age and younger living in the 24127, 24128, 24070, and 24131 zip codes. The 2026 Summer Feeding Program offers food boxes delivered by Amazon right to your doorstep for each eligible child in your family. This year, each food box contains seven days’ worth of nutritious meal options instead of 5 days, further helping parents ensure their children have access to healthy, balanced meals throughout the summer months. The registration deadlines for the summer feeding program are June 8 and June 22. Families may expect 8 food box deliveries if they registered by the first deadline. Food deliveries begin June 16 and end Aug. 4.
Parents may complete registration for each eligible child in their home by visiting https://feedingswva.org/summer-food-service-program/ and selecting the Home Delivery Meals for Kids option. To qualify for the summer feeding program, children must:
• Be individually registered with the online registration form by one of the two registration deadlines.
• Not participate in another Summer Feeding Program, such as grab-and-go summer meals or Summer School Meals.
• Not be enrolled in Summer School.
• Live in the 24127, 24128, 24070, 24131 zip codes.
• Be registered at only one address, even if their parents live in different households.
• Must be 18 years of age or younger, unless they are still enrolled in school (not college). Homeschool students and children not yet old enough for school qualify as well.
• Have a physical home address for registration used for registration, not a P.O. Box.
The Craig County Public Library understands the importance of accessible nutrition. Hunger and stress about lack of access to food are a worry Feeding Southwest VA, No Kid Hungry, Amazon, and the Craig County Public Library hope to alleviate allowing the future of Virginia to fully benefit from their education and enjoy their summer.
