Roads and transportation issues were a focus of the Craig County Board of Supervisors’ Aug. 7 meeting, with Virginia Department of Transportation representative Brian Blevins providing updates.
Work planned includes ditching, pipe cleaning and shoulder maintenance along Route 42 (Cumberland Gap Road), grading on Valley Roller Mill Road, Simmonsville Road and Northside Road, and countywide pothole patching. Recent mowing and storm debris cleanup were also reported.
Dunbar requested additional safety measures before the school year begins at a blind curve near Crawford’s Church, where school buses and sand trucks converge. Blevins said the request for signage would be reviewed.
No formal votes were taken on the road issues, but supervisors indicated transportation will remain a county priority.
