Public safety funding received a boost at the Aug. 7 meeting of the Craig County Board of Supervisors, with the approval of more than $157,000 in grants for emergency services and 911 operations.
The county’s Emergency Services Department received a $2,703 grant from the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services for electronic patient care reporting (EPCR) system costs. The total system cost of $3,903 will be supplemented with $1,200 from the county’s Information Technology Department.
Craig County E-911 secured two grants: $5,000 for GIS and data maintenance and $150,000 in one-time state funding for equipment improvements, employee retention and workplace wellness initiatives.
The board also approved carrying over earmarked funds for sheriff’s seizures, opioid settlement allocations and other public safety accounts.
