The Craig County Board of Supervisors approved several budget amendments and transfers during its Aug. 7 meeting, authorizing adjustments totaling more than $1.8 million.
One of the largest actions was a $25,000 transfer from the county contingency fund to temporarily fund a part-time position in the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office for the 2025-26 fiscal year. The board noted that reimbursement from the State Compensation Board will be pursued.
Supervisors also authorized a 1.5% one-time bonus for Department of Social Services employees, funded through the state appropriation approved by the General Assembly.
Other amendments included carrying over $1,588,885 in unspent funds for purposes ranging from tourism and the farmers market to opioid remediation, E-911 grants and sheriff’s office operations.
The measures were adopted by recorded vote, with Supervisor Keith Dunbar absent.
