The Local Office on Aging’s Vital Transportation service has recently expanded its reach to help even more seniors with transportation needs.
Now, eligible seniors in the town of New Castle can get assistance going to their doctor, pharmacy, grocery store, or any other critical services.
Vital Transportation is available to individuals 60 or older, with low incomes, who need a ride to their doctor, pharmacy, grocery store or other critical appointments. The service helps those who have no other source of transportation or means to pay for transportation. Riders must be able to get in and out of the vehicle on their own.
To enroll in this service, call the LOA at (540) 345-0451. LOA will complete a brief assessment to ensure eligibility for the service. Once qualification has been established, LOA asks to be provided with at least three days’ notice to schedule a ride.
