The Bobby Scruggs Charitable Foundation has announced its 2025 scholarship recipient, continuing its mission of supporting students pursuing careers in motorsports and the automotive industry.

This year’s $1,000 scholarship was awarded to Gracie Faith Huffman of Craig County High School, who plans to study motorsports at Virginia Western Community College.

The foundation honors the legacy of longtime NASCAR official Bobby Scruggs, who served the sport nearly 40 years before losing a 13-year battle with cancer on Jan. 22, 2005. Scruggs was known for his unwavering determination, summed up in his motto: “Never give up. Go over, go under, go around or go through — but never give up!”

Since its creation, the scholarship program has provided financial assistance to 180 students across 26 high schools in Southwest Virginia. Additionally, the foundation has sponsored 15 student interns in partnership with Motor Racing Outreach’s children’s ministry, along with opportunities at Wake Forest University’s research center.

Foundation leaders said they are committed to continuing Scruggs’ legacy by helping young people launch careers in motorsports with support from the NASCAR community.

As Scruggs often reminded drivers and officials, “If today had not gone well, tomorrow would be a better day.”
