American Legion Post 240 of Troutville/Daleville awarded three $500 scholarships to graduating seniors who attended Botetourt Technical Education Center and have a relative who served in the military.

To qualify, recipients were required to write an essay on the meaning of patriotism and attend a scholarship dinner held July 3 in Daleville.

Among the recipients was Taylor Albright of James River High School, who received the $500 Ray Gabay Memorial Scholarship and has enlisted in the United States Air Force. Jaycob Wolfe of Craig County High School received the $500 American Legion Post 240 Vocational Scholarship and will attend Roanoke College in the fall.

American Legion Post 240 Finance Officer John Dipasquale presented the awards.
