Bridge Maintenance – Pulaski County
On-ramps to Route 100 (northbound and southbound) off I-81 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Friday mornings. Times and days may vary—check message boards for updates.
Widening: Exit 137 to Exit 141 – Roanoke County / Salem
Project to widen I-81 from two to three lanes. Traffic will be maintained in both directions. Expect alternating lane closures, narrow lanes, traffic shifts at Thompson Memorial Drive and Wildwood Road, flagging operations on Route 635/619, uneven pavement, and a reduced work zone speed of 60 mph.
Widening: Exit 143 to Exit 151 – Roanoke County / Botetourt County
Shoulder strengthening and barrier wall installation underway. Expect nighttime lane closures, narrowed ramps at exits 143, 146, 150, daytime flagging on Belle Haven Road, and a posted work zone speed limit of 60 mph.
Deck Overlay – Mile Marker 95.7 (Peak Creek)
Northbound and southbound bridges undergoing repair. Expect alternating nighttime lane closures between MM 96 and 94.
New River Bridge Replacement – Exit 105
Traffic has shifted to a new bridge. Expect lane closures between MM 106 and 104, flagging on Route 605, and periodic slow rolls on I-81 between MM 98 and 109.
Deck Repairs – MM 89 to 170
Nighttime right and left lane closures will be in place in both directions.

Bridge Deck Repairs
Nighttime right and left lane closures, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Deck overlays underway between 8.78 miles north of NC line and 6.24 miles south of Route 58. Closures under the bridge on Route 148.
ROANOKE CITY
Orange Avenue Off Ramp Safety Improvements
Shoulder closures, narrow ramps, and nighttime lane closures expected along Route 460 and I-581 off-ramp.
ROANOKE COUNTY
Bradshaw Road (Route 622) Culvert Replacement
Temporary signal controlling one lane around-the-clock. Located 6.8 miles from Route 311.
Route 220/419 Diverging Diamond Interchange
Project reconfigures interchange and multiple surrounding intersections. Delays and phased completions expected.
Route 220 Intersection Improvements at Southern Hills & Valley Ave
Nighttime lane closures Sunday through Friday. Daytime shoulder closures possible.

Craig Botetourt Scenic Trail Maintenance
Brush cutting and stabilization work along old railbed. Public meetings scheduled.
FLOYD COUNTY
Route 712 (Hope Road) Surface Treatment
Single lane closures and flagging in place. One-week detour via Robertson Mill Road. Completion summer 2025.
FRANKLIN COUNTY
Brick Church Road Connector Project
Road closed near Pleasant Breeze Drive. Temporary signal in use. Flagging during construction. Anticipated completion late 2025.
GILES COUNTY
Route 778 (Apache Road) Bridge Replacement over Sinking Creek
Road closed with detour. Message boards alerting drivers. Completion summer 2026.
HENRY COUNTY
Route 220 Pedestrian Project
Lane closures at Daniels Creek Road and Moss Street. Expected completion October 2025.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY
Route 8 Park and Ride
Project near I-81 MM 114. Alternating lane closures and flagging on Route 8 and Route 666. Completion expected winter 2027.
PATRICK COUNTY
Route 58 Lover’s Leap Project
Clearing and grading underway. Speed limit 45 mph. Expect delays due to blasting and flagging operations.
Route 58 Lover’s Vesta Project
Widening and bridge replacement near Meadows of Dan. Temporary roads and brush clearing underway. Public meeting planned.
