Glenvar’s Highlander Stadium will be the site of a high school track meet today and the Craig County team will be competing. Action begins at 5 pm in Roanoke County.
In addition to the Rockets and the host Highlanders the meet will include teams from Patrick County, Floyd County, Radford, James River, Alleghany and Carroll County. It will be an all-district meet for the Three Rivers, as all the teams except Craig are Three River District members.
Last week the Rockets ran in a meet at Alleghany High and had some good performances, including seven top three finishes. Noah Paxton and Caleb Fields were one-two in the discus and Noah was also second in the shot. Bentley Smith was second in the high jump.
In the hurdle events the Rockets were strong as well. Robbie Eakin and Tristan Dooley were second and third in both the 110 high hurdles and 300 hurdles. Craig also had personal records from Carter Price, Jeremiah Fowler, Dylan Sarver and the 4×100 relay team.
“The future is bright for our Rockets,” said coach Jayke Dowdy.
Craig will close out the season with an invitational at Giles on May 7th and the Graham Invitational on May 9th.
