The Craig County spring sports teams will be returning from spring break this week but when they’re back was yet to be determined at press time. Craig baseball and softball games on Monday were postponed with thunderstorms in the forecast and rescheduled for later in the month.
Weather permitting, three Tuesday events were still on at press time. The baseball and softball team were scheduled to host Eastern Montgomery and the soccer team had a game in Elliston against East Mont. That was the scheduled season opener for the soccer team.
This year’s soccer team is coached by Crystal Hickson. The team has seven seniors, Noah Brierly, Sean Cady, Sarah Hickson, Tanner Owens, Jordyn Price, Talon Ritter and Montana Stein.
Nothing is on the docket for tonight but on Thursday the baseball team is scheduled to host Highland County at 5 pm and the Highland jayvees are here for softball.
Next Tuesday the softball team will make up this week’s postponed game with Smith Mountain Lake Academy, and that will be at 5 pm in New Castle. The baseball team is at Bath next Tuesday.
A week from today, on April 9, the track team will have their first event of the season as the Rockets head to Daleville for a 4:30 pm meet at Lord Botetourt High School.
