On Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, Hilda Faye Harless, loving Mom, Nanny, and MawMaw, passed away in her home surrounded by family at the age of 77.
Hilda was born on Nov. 3, 1945 in Craig County to Luther and Rachel (Davis) Owens. Hilda married Robbie Harless on Feb. 6, 1964. Together, they had two children: Betty and Robin.
What Hilda loved most was going on family vacations. From the beaches to New York to Florida to Alaska, she was always ready to travel. She was a die-hard New York Yankees fan all of her life and enjoyed watching the Redskins while waiting for the next baseball season to start. She enjoyed live music (or “singing” as she would say), playing Rook, working puzzles, and most of all – spending time with her family.
Hilda was preceded in death by spouse, Robbie Harless; brothers, Danny Owens, Gary Owens, Randy Owens, and Jesse Owens; and sisters, Brenda Kendall and Helen Swingle. She is survived by daughters, Betty [Danny] Wolfe, Robin [Bryce] Buzzard, and “son” Bobby Harless; grandchildren, Elaina [Chad] Wolfe-Carper, Brandon Wolfe, Trevor Buzzard [Sydney Holcomb] and Cameron Buzzard; great-granddaughter, Genevieve Carper; “grandchildren,” Travis Craft, Holly Secrist and Raelynn Harless; two sisters, Patricia Tingler, and Connie [Oscar] Smith; two brothers Barry [Carol] Owens and Luther [Sandy] Owens; and many other nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2023 at Paitsel Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Frazier officiating. Interment will follow at Crawford Cemetery @ Paxton Chapel Church. The family received friends one hour prior to the service from 1-2 p.m.
