At 2:07 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, the Craig County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a bomb threat at the Craig County Courthouse. Bath County also received a bomb threat at their courthouse. The Courthouse and surrounding businesses and streets were immediately evacuated. The Virginia State Police were contacted, and an explosive detector canine responded to the courthouse. The courthouse was cleared at 3:55 p.m. The case remains under investigation. This was a false call; no explosive device was located. Said Sheriff Craddock: “I want the citizens of Craig County to know that the safety of our citizens is our top priority.”
