BUCHANAN – Paul Revell, the Virginia Department of Forestry’s urban and community forestry coordinator, joined Buchanan officials to plant a ceremonial tree in recognition of Arbor Day.

The Town of Buchanan held its annual Arbor Day Celebration Friday at the Town Park where 23 more trees—silver maples—were added to the landscape along the James River.

Speaking during the ceremony were Town Revitalization Manager Harry Gleason, Board of Supervisors member Terry Austin, Mayor Tom Middlecamp and Forester Bob Boeren.

Revell was on hand to present the town with its third Tree City USA designation in as many years.

The town also recognized the individuals, churches, civic groups and businesses that contributed to this year’s tree planting.
