The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. with refreshments provided by the GFWC Botetourt Town and Country Woman’s Club and the Eagle Rock Ruritan Club. “This project represents a major leap forward in the county’s ability to provide quality library services to all of its citizens,” noted Library Director Steve Vest. The Eagle Rock Library was included in Botetourt County’s capital plan for a number of years, but took a big step toward realization with the acquisition of the land in 2004. The county set aside $1 million for the new library that has been under construction since March 2009. It was completed approximately $100,000 under budget. The building was designed by Reynolds Architects of Blacksburg. Price Buildings of Rocky Mount was the contractor. The 9,600-square-foot building is the largest of the county’s four libraries and contains a computer lab and a spacious meeting room. Citizens will enjoy full library services including access to books, magazines, DVDs and audiobooks, as well as Wi-Fi internet access. A public copier and fax service will also be available. Approximately 12,000 items will be available for loan on opening day. Michael Hibben, Eagle Rock’s Branch Librarian, looks forward to welcoming patrons to the new facility, which will open for business on Monday April 12 at 10 a.m.
