Drummond, Bernie Arthur

Bernie Arthur Drummond, 87, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, peacefully departed this life on June 24, 2025, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Born on March 12, 1938, in Oriskany, VA, Bernie was the cherished son of the late Arthur Mason Drummond and Lottie Cammy Drummond.

Bernie was best known for his kind-hearted generosity and his deep love for music. Whether strumming his guitar, lending his voice to a heartfelt song, or sharing stories, he brought joy and comfort to family, friends, and neighbors. His compassionate spirit extended far beyond his immediate circle, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a member of Iron Gate Baptist Church, Iron Gate.

An avid outdoorsman at heart, Bernie felt most at home in the woods, enjoying countless hours in pursuit of his passions for hunting and fishing. He cherished these quiet moments in nature, often alongside companions such as his beloved dog, Itty Bitty, who provided loyal companionship throughout the years.

Above all, Bernie deeply treasured spending quality moments with his family, especially taking immense pride in the accomplishments of his grandsons, Tommy Drummond and Isaiah Mckinney, who held a special place in his heart.

Bernie is survived by his loving wife, Jeanie Campbell Drummond; son, Thomas Arthur Drummond; daughter, Shannon Drummond Sprouse; grandsons, Tommy and Isaiah; sister, Viola Pennington; and numerous other extended family members. He is preceded in death by sisters, Violet Sloss, Madeline Bane, and Lucy Ledford.

To honor Bernie’s memory, a Celebration of Life was held at King Memorial Community Church on June 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend John Norris along with longtime family friend, Carol Lewis. Family and friends welcomed to share cherished memories during the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to King Memorial Church. The Drummond family extends profound gratitude to Connections Plus Hospice and to everyone who has showered them with love, kindness, and support during this time of loss.

Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is handling the arrangements.
