It is difficult to believe, but summer is halfway over, and school starts in less than a month.
Some kids have all they need from their parents, family members and friends to provide all their school supply needs.
However, the Craig County Public School staff and administration want to alleviate the needs of children who do not have the necessities by hosting another Load the Bus Day.
On July 31, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Food Country, a school bus will be parked in the lot. The goal is for people to load it up with school supplies for kids of Craig County.
Some items needed for most all grades are regular and mechanical pencils, ink pens, crayons, tissues, black dry erase markers, 2-inch 3-ring binders, wipes and back packs. Many other items are needed as well.
- pencil top erasers and large pink erasers
- protractors
- tab dividers
- 1, 2 and 5 pocket folders with holes for binders
- hand sanitizer or Germ-X
- gently used Legos, board games, toys/equipment for recess
- construction paper
- graph paper
- colored pencils
- scissors (some blunt ends and some sharper ends)
- glue sticks
- loose-leaf paper, wide ruled
- highlighters
- red pens (for students to check work)
- Two-pocket folders
- 3×5 index cards (white and multicolored)
- earbuds (for Chromebook)
- Baggies –gallon, and sandwich-sized
- pencil box, pouch or bag with zipper
- primary journals (the book has lines with an area at the top to draw pictures)
- marble composition books
- spiral notebooks, wide-ruled
- plain green pocket folders for graded work
The school and kids are so very appreciative of anyone who makes a donation.
People can purchase items at Food Country or Family Dollar who will be stocked up on supplies or bring a bag from your previous purchases and enjoy filling up the bus with other community members.
Craig County School teachers hope that this opportunity brings smiles, not only to the kids who will receive the supplies, but also to the people who enjoy doing the giving.
