As long as Gennifer Miller is the Principal, it can never be said that school is boring. Students agreed that her idea of a field day this year was “rad” and “high key.”
On Tuesday, May 15, students from the Craig County Middle School flooded the Fairgrounds to enjoy a multitude of games from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The high school students enjoyed their field day on the following Monday.
“This was an end of the year celebration for the students to enjoy after all the hard work they put in during the school year,” John Looney, a teacher and organizer, said.
It was apparent to the eye and ears that students were totally enjoying their day of activities which included football, basketball drills, corn hole, badminton and kickball. Because the students had to wait in long lines, the inflatables and the rock wall proved to be a consensus favorite.
Many students also enjoyed the photo booth as several of them made creative faces and gestures to add flair to their poses.
Adding to the fun of the high school students, an obstacle course and bull riding machine were also available. Several students had high hopes of staying on the bull but quickly realized that it is easier than it looks.
Teachers manned different stations as the students went around enjoying the activities. Gabriel Devinney, a student at Craig, was the D.J. and provided music which resonated with the teens.
Samuel Foster, Director of Instruction and Educational Technology, grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for the student’s lunch. After that, students went on to see the movie Jumanji.
Food Country, Mike Carper at IGA Express, Rob Carper at Subway, Coke, Kroger, Grand Home Furnishings, Harley Wolfe, Jim Cady, Ryan Frazier and The Fairgrounds all contributed to making the day a success for the students. “We would like to thank them all for their contributions,” Looney said.
“I have an amazing staff, and the students are fantastic,” Principal Miller said. “Craig is a wonderful place to be, and I am so happy that I can do some things like this for our students. Hopefully, they all had a great time.”
