The Craig County Historical Society is pleased to report a successful fundraising dinner Friday, May 4, at the Old Brick Hotel in New Castle. The dining room was near capacity at two seatings where a menu of country-style steak, beans, slaw and potato casserole was topped with a warm roll and choice of homemade dessert.
All food and supplies were donated, meaning the meal price and all donations will be used for the reconstruction of the Holstein Cabin next door to the Hotel and Hawkins cabin. The foundation is completed, and logs will be moved from storage soon, so the next phase of the building can continue.
The Hotel, built in the late 1800s, is a unique venue and a historic landmark. Anyone interested in using the facility for events, family gatherings or meetings may contact society president Gerlene Sizer at 864-5866 or by sending an email to HYPERLINK “mailto:[email protected]” \t “_blank” [email protected].
