Empowering individuals to build a stronger community
Have you been to visit the library lately? If not, I invite you to stop by and check it out. On a typical day here is what you might see: a college student working on a project, or perhaps a toddler reading from a library tablet. You might see neighbors meeting and catching up on each other’s lives. You might see a visitor stopping by to charge up a cell phone or getting maps. Local business people and traveling nurses use the library internet and computers to enter business data. You will see people stopping in to ask directions frequently. Oh, and you will see books and movies- lots of them! It is a busy place, especially after school and on Saturday. At night the parking lot is frequently used for in-car internet service from our free high-speed wi-fi.
We are doing our best to keep the doors open with limited resources and space. Because we are bursting at the seams, you might have to step over children on your way to the bathroom. You might have to leave your stroller outside the door as there is no room inside for it. If you have a community meeting at the library, be prepared to sit in children’s seats and use the children’s table for your meeting. You might have to step aside to let someone else pass by to look for books, but we are used to that community closeness! Places where you can freely meet and connect with people and resources are not plentiful in our large county and that is why the public library is so important to so many of us.
Stay tuned to the library corner to find out how we are growing to meet our future needs and how you can help to be a part of Craig County’s future!
