Robert Lee Blankenship, 76, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, in Chesterfield, VA. Originally from Paint Bank, VA, Bob was a graduate of New Castle High School and served in Okinawa Japan with the US Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ira and Lorine Blankenship and his brother Charles “CJ” Blankenship. He is survived by wife Peggy C. Blankenship; children Kimberly B. Garber (Greg), Robert L. Blankenship II (Allisson) and Jeffrey L. Blankenship (Aimee); step-children, Gina Owens (Jerry), Currie Stout Jr. and grandchildren, Emily Blankenship, Amanda Owens and Kaylee Owens.
A proud member of Richmond-East Moose Lodge #1947, Bob was currently serving as the Lodge Administrator. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, inside the Richmond-East Family Center, 7167 Flag Lane, Mechanicsville VA 23111. In lieu of flowers, Bob requested donations be made to VCU Massey Cancer Center Box 980214 Richmond, VA 23284.
