Mill Mountain Theatre’s traveling performers will be making a stop in New Castle on Saturday to give a performance of their latest production that they hope delights entire families.
The troupe will be performing Curious George: The Golden Meatball at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Craig County High School auditorium. The free event is made possible through a combined effort of the Virginia Commission for the Arts, Mill Mountain Theatre, Craig County Public Library, and Craig County Public Schools.
The musical joins Curious George, the inquisitive and lovable monkey in a brand-new story — an adventure specifically designed for young audiences.
All You-Can-Eat Meatball Day comes just once a year and George has been waiting for weeks. When Meatball Day arrives, George helps his friend, Chef Pisghetti, cook some delicious meatballs and serve them to the hungry crowd. But this year, the crowd has vanished!
Something was keeping people away — something pretty big. And that something was Phinneas T. Lightspeed and his speedy Meatballs-o-Matic machine. In despair, Chef Pisghetti vows to cook no more, so George goes on a mission to enter the chef’s meatballs in the world-famous Golden Meatball Contest in Rome.
With every swing and flip, George takes the audience through a fun-filled adventure.
Event registration is available on eventbrite.com, but is not required for admission. For more information, call the Craig County Public Library at 540-864-8978.
