The Craig County School Board approved the creation of a hunter safety course club at Craig County High School during its Sept. 8 meeting.
The club will be available to students ages 12 to 15 who are new to outdoor activities. Students will work under the direction of Bostic to complete an online hunter education course.
The program will cover hunter safety, wildlife conservation, civic responsibility and potential careers in outdoor-related fields.
During the meeting, Superintendent Jason Wheeler emphasized that no live ammunition or firearms would be present on campus as part of the program.
The board later formally approved the Hunter Safety Course Club following a motion by Whitlock and a second by Powers. The motion passed unanimously.
