Craig County Public Schools is nearing completion of a generator project and continuing work on a boiler replacement project as part of ongoing improvements to its school facilities.
According to Superintendent Jason A. Wheeler, work on the generator project is nearing completion. All major components have been completed except for one remaining transfer switch.
The project is expected to be finished by the end of September once the remaining equipment is installed.
Work also continues on the division’s boiler replacement project, which is expected to be completed by October.
Significant progress was made on the project during the summer, with work continuing over the next several weeks to complete the remaining components. The old fuel oil tank also will be removed from the property as part of the project.
Once completed, the new boiler system is expected to provide a more reliable and efficient heating system for the schools.
Wheeler said the project represents an important investment in the division’s facilities and will help address long-term infrastructure needs while keeping school buildings safe, dependable and well maintained.
