The Journey of Hope TransAmerica team stopped in New Castle on Saturday as part of its 4,000-mile cross-country cycling journey from Seattle to Washington, D.C., raising awareness and support for people with disabilities.
The team, organized by The Ability Experience, included 16 cyclists and seven crew members. Riders arrived in New Castle after completing a 105-mile ride.
That evening, the team participated in a Friendship Visit at Camp Easter Seals PORT Health, where cyclists shared dinner with campers, took part in camp activities and built relationships with individuals with disabilities.
Camp Easter Seals PORT Health has partnered with Journey of Hope since 2013. According to The Ability Experience, the Friendship Visit promotes inclusion while celebrating the abilities of people with disabilities.
