The Craig County track team hasn’t had much luck with the weather this year. After having two meets rained out last week’s meet at Franklin County was barely underway when the rains came again.
This time, at least the Rockets got a few events in after the long bus ride to Rocky Mount. Bradyn Dunbar won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.17 and the shot put competition was also held before the storm forced the rest of the meet to be cancelled. The Rockets have had just two complete meets this season.
“I’m getting sick of this weather,” said coach Jayke Dowdy. “It’s hard to build any excitement and momentum with over a month since we fully competed, but they’re pretty fired up for district.”
The Pioneer District meet was scheduled for Monday at Narrows. Results were too late for publication, but will be included in next week’s NCR sports section.
