Spring sports at Craig County were on hold last week for Spring Break but the softball and track teams are back in school and ready to go. Craig will not be fielding baseball or soccer teams this spring.
The softball team returns from the break with three straight home games. The Rockets were home against Narrows on Tuesday of this week, then host Eastern Montgomery next Tuesday, April 7. Parry McCluer is here on April 9 as the Rockets look to pick up some wins after dropping their first two games against Class 3 Staunton River.
The track team is getting ready to open their season with a meet at Giles on Friday, April 10. The following week the team is at Lord Botetourt for a meet on Thursday, April 16. The boys have what is probably their biggest team ever.
“Close to 30 boys have signed up plus four or five girls,” said coach Jayke Dowdy. “It will be a big track team and we should have a strong year.”
