Trace Bellassai was reappointed chair and Darren Gilreath was reappointed vice chair of the Craig County School Board during the board’s regular monthly meeting Jan. 20.
As part of the board’s annual reorganization, members also approved Jessica Belcher to serve as school board clerk for 2026 and appointed Huffman as deputy clerk for the coming year.
The board also reappointed Bellassai to represent Craig County Public Schools on the Roanoke Valley Regional Governor’s School Board, a role he has previously held. Craig County Public Schools participates in the regional governor’s school, and the board annually appoints one of its members to serve on the governing board.
In addition, the board established its regular meeting schedule for 2026. Meetings are typically held on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Craig County High School auditorium. Scheduled meeting dates are:

• July 14
• Aug. 11
• Sept. 8
• Oct. 13
• Nov. 10
• Dec. 8
The board will meet Jan. 19, 2027, instead of the second Tuesday, due to the Virginia Association of School Superintendents and Virginia Association of School Business Officials winter conference.
