Craig County’s Clayton Cassell was selected to participate in the halftime kicking contest at the Roanoke College versus Randolph Macon football game at Salem Stadium Saturday.
Bojangles restaurant sponsors the contest and contestants have a chance to win prizes or cash with successful field goals.
Here Clayton drills one through the uprights as Rocket football teammate Carter Calfee holds. This kick was good for 20 Bojangles meals. Clayton had one more, longer, kick for $1,000 but he hit it wide left and settled for the chicken.
Craig coach Jim Fisher and a couple Rocket players assisted and were on hand to watch Randolph Macon top the Maroons, 35-17, against the first year Roanoke College team. It was the 28th straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference win for the Yellowjackets and RC’s first loss of the season.
