From the Archives: Reflections contest winners honored

From the January 14, 2004 edition of The New Castle Record

Josh Ouellette, Sage McPherson, and Chance Bass were announced as McCleary Elementary School winners of the PTA Reflection Contest at the Craig County School Board meeting January 6.

The three students appeared before the school board to receive recognition for the achievement.

The theme of the yearly PTA contest was “I am really happy when…”

Every grade level had an award winner, who received $15 for first place and $10 award for second.

The three students honored we the overall school winners. They received an additional $25. Their entries will be entered in the local district contest.

Ouellette, a fifth grader, won first place in art for Grades 3-5 for his crayon drawing of a buck.

McPherson, a first grader, won first place in art for Grades k*2 for a crayon drawing of a long-distance running racing past a cow.

Chance Bass, a fourth grader, won first place in literature. She wrote a piece entitled “I am really happy when I’m with my dad.”
