The Craig County School Board approved a revised 2025–26 academic calendar at its July 21 meeting, modifying the schedule to ensure the division meets the state’s 180-day requirement and to align with that of Botetourt County Public Schools because of the relationship with the Botetourt Technical Education Center.
As part of the revision, a February parent-teacher conference day was converted to a regular instructional day, allowing the calendar to begin with a full set of 180 student days. The motion to approve the revised calendar was made by board member Darren Gilreath and seconded by Heather Matheney. It passed unanimously.
The school year will begin in August 2025 and end in May 2026, with graduation scheduled for May 22. Early dismissal days are set for Oct. 10, 2025, and March 11, 2026.
Each grading quarter includes designated midterm, end, and report card dates. The division plans to use banked time for the first 10 makeup days, with additional options identified in February, March and April if needed.
The calendar includes 89 instructional days in the first semester and 91 in the second. The School Board reserves the right to amend the calendar.
Board members in attendance included Chair Trace Bellassai (Craig City District), Vice Chair Darren Gilreath (Simmonsville District), Faye Powers (Potts Mountain District), Heather Matheney (Craig Creek District), and Walter Marsden (New Castle District).
