Three Craig County players have been named to All-Region 1C spring sports teams, as released by the region in the past week. Craig had one player named in softball and two in soccer.
Senior midfielder Tanner Owens and junior forward Isaiah Nichols were both named to the all-region second team in soccer. Talan Bruce of Eastern Montgomery, a fellow Pioneer District member, was named the Region 1C Player of the Year. Kris Teaford of Auburn was named the Coach of the Year.
In softball Craig junior Jenna Boitnott was named to the All-Region second team as a designated player. Auburn swept top player and pitcher honors as Hope Wilson, a sophomore, was Player of the Year and senior Eagle McKenzie Booth is the Pitcher of the Year. Amber Faulkner of George Wythe was named Coach of the Year.
Craig was not represented on the All-Region baseball team. Auburn swept baseball’s top honors as senior Zac McGlothlin was named Player of the Year and Eric Altizer was named Coach of the Year after leading the Eagles to the state championship in Salem last weekend.
