The Craig County soccer team will be in Galax today for the opening game of the Region 1C soccer tournament. The Rockets come in winless but are much improved from the beginning of the season.
Craig played Narrows in the Pioneer District tournament last week and lost 4-1, a huge improvement over two regular season games against the Green Wave when Craig lost 6-0 and 9-1. Tanner Owens scored a goal for the Rockets and the defense was much improved with Jadeon Huffman making seven saves in the first half and Kaden Custer turning away eight shots in the second half.
“The team worked really hard at this game,” said coach Crystal Hickson. “I am very proud of them working together.”
