The Craig County football players are putting in the time and effort for a successful 2025 season. The Rockets are working hard in the weight room to compete against another tough schedule this fall.
“The boys have worked incredibly hard all off-season, showing up to school at 6:45 am three times a week all winter and spring,” said Rocket assistant coach Jayke Dowdy. “We tested for ‘Pound Clubs,’ which is a way to see who the strongest athletes are in the school. They take their Squat, Bench, and Hang Clean max and those three add up to make it into the clubs, starting at 700 pounds total.”
Craig had half a dozen boys make the combined 700 pound club and four make the 800 pound club. Peyton Fields maxed 900 and his brother Caleb is the only Craig player to make the “Half-Ton Club,” totaling 1,000 pounds.
The Rockets will take off from lifting this week before returning for summer conditioning the day after Memorial Day, May 27.
“We plan to keep the momentum rolling all summer and reap the benefits of their hard work this fall,” said Dowdy. “The boys have bought into the weight room and the single wing, and live by our three word battle cry, ‘Fear the Wing!!’.”
