Craig County has a number of young artists. Honorable Judge Tucker desired to see some of this creative artwork displayed for the public made a reality and now a yearly showcase is being held. One student from each of the three Craig County Public Schools is selected by the art teachers, Mrs. Frazier and Ms. Lantz to display their art on the second floor of the Craig County Courthouse for a year.
A reception is held, by the Craig County Combined District Court Clerks, to honor each of the students. They are given the opportunity to describe the inspiration and type of art they created.
This year’s reception was held on April 4. The showcase was hosted by the Honorable Judge Hagan.
The student, chosen from McCleary Elementary School, was 5th grader, Aubri Trivette. Aubri’s artwork was entitled “Stonehenge”. Aubri’s future goal is to become a lawyer or a surgeon.
The student, chosen from Craig County Middle School, was 7th grader, Silas Templeton. Silas’s other interests include math and science. Silas’s future goals include going to college and designing/creating Lego sets.
The student, chosen from Craig County High School, was Dreydin Smith.
The community is invited to stop by the courthouse and see the talent of the county’s youth.
