The Craig County track team competed for the first time last week when the Rockets ran in a meet at Lord Botetourt High School. There were 10 teams entered in the meet in Daleville and Craig had some strong performances.
“We had almost all of the kids get a PR(personal record) in their running events,” said Rocket coach Jayke Dowdy.
Robbie Eakin finished second in the 300 hurdles. Noah Paxton was third in the discus and the throwers relay team of Jeremiah Fowler, Carter Price, Paxton and Peyton Fields won their race with a time of 50.8.
“We hung in there,” said Dowdy. “We don’t have enough kids to fill out all of the events, but we did out point Northside and Parry McCluer.
The Rockets are scheduled to run at Alleghany on Thursday of this week. Next Wednesday, April 23rd, they’re back at Lord Botetourt for a 4:30 pm meet.
