FROM THE ARCHIVES: Couple Weds in the Bucket

From the January 26, 1994 edition of The New Castle Record

The Bucket, formerly the 311 Grocery, has united another Craig County couple in marriage.

Teri Brickey and James Bradley wanted to get married in the Bucket since they first met there, like many local couples have over the past decades. Even current bucket owner Betty Vermillion met her lifetime companion playing pinball at the New Castle restaurant.

“A lot of people met here,” Vermillion said.

The Bradleys’ had wanted to just walk right in and get married one day last week, but friends and family convinced them to wait until Saturday to perform the restaurant nuptials. This afforded everybody time to make last minutes plans for a surprise wedding ceremony complete with decoration by local artisans.

The walls of the Bucket were decked with baby’s breath, balloons, candles and ribbon designed by Janet’s Petals. Homemade weeing cake was supplied by Reba Todd. Rob Stahl directed the nuptials, which were conducted right by the Bucket’s wide screen television set.

The couple spent a lot of time together at the e311 Grocery, and couldn’t think of a more fitting place to take their wedding vows.

“They feel in love here,” said Vermillion.
