The Craig County basketball teams were on the road Monday to open Three Rivers District tournament play. Results were too late for publication but the boys were at Eastern Montgomery and the girls were at Bath County. The tournament continues today, weather permitting, as teams battle to make the region tournament.
Both teams celebrated “Senior Night” in New Castle last week. On Monday, February 10, the boys recognized seniors Cameron Huffman, Talon Ritter, Isaiah Wente and Jaycob Wolfe as well as Senior cheerleaders Sarah Hickson and Jordyn Price.
The boys dropped a 56-43 decision to Bath County on Senior Night to fall to 0-21 on the season. They had games with the Covington Boys Home and Parry McCluer cancelled last week due to the winter storm and those games will not be made up.
The girls had Senior Night on Friday when they hosted Parry McCluer as they honored five seniors, Brooklyn Cayton, Gracie Huffman, Maddie Kendall and twins Morgan and Madison Underwood. The girls fell to 1-17 with a 50-27 loss to the Blues.
