DOSWELL—Youth who participated in the 2024 State Fair of Virginia’s general and youth livestock show competitions are eligible to apply for 25 scholarships totaling over $30,000.

Applications are being accepted through Jan. 22.

Of the 25 scholarships, 15 are open to all youth who participated in the 2024 livestock shows, and 10 are for anyone who competed in the State Fair youth competitions. The general awards include a $1,000 scholarship from the Gatewood Holland Stoneman Endowment, a $1,000 Farm Credit Scholarship, three $1,000 youth development scholarships and five $2,000 youth development scholarship opportunities.

The 15 scholarships for 2024 livestock exhibitors will be offered in three age groups: Juniors (9-12); Intermediate (13-15); and Seniors (16 and older). Groups are based on exhibitors’ ages as of Sept. 30, 2024.

The SFVA Scholarship Program promotes positive youth development by recognizing and rewarding leadership and scholarship attributes developed through meaningful competition.

Awarded scholarships are held for the recipient and sent directly to the recipient’s educational institution to support continued learning, including but not limited to 4-year degree programs, community colleges, trade and technical schools or classes, and certification testing.
