Mary Page Cosby was born on July 2, 1942, and passed away on December 10, 2024, at her home in New Castle, Virginia. She was 82 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Cosby, and her daughter, Amy Rodrigues as well as her father, George Burden, her mother, Isebelle Burden, and her brother, Warren Burden. She is survived by her son, Michael Cosby, and her grandchildren, Anthony Rodrigues, Arcadia Rodrigues, Skyler Rodrigues, and Seaver Rodrigues. She welcomed Skyler into her home at an early age and raised him on her own as if he were her own child.

She was born in Richmond, Virginia and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Mary Washington College, and earned a Master’s degree from Madison College. She began her career as an elementary school teacher and served in various locations throughout Virginia over the years. In her later career she became a school administrator and served in that role until her retirement after more than thirty years of service as an educator.

She was known for her eagerness to help family, friends, as well as everyone she worked with as a teacher and community member and for her ability to find good in everyone she was around. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, travelling and her craftsmanship at making lampshades and other decorative items.

She was a member of the Jamestowne Society and the Craig Valley Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, December 16, 2024, at Paitsel Funeral Home. Interment will take place at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Paitsel Funeral Home.
