Pursuant to Virginia Code § 15.2-1427, notice is hereby given, the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Craig, Virginia will hold a public hearing to
receive public input regarding a proposed Ordinance to Add and Amend
Energy Ordinance to the Craig County Zoning Ordinance.
These changes will include the following:
• Sec. 58-3. De nitions. – Remove the term “active solar collector.” – Add the terms:
• Small-scale solar generator
• S olar agricultural generator
• Utility scale solar installation
• Sec. 58-258. Uses permitted by conditional use permit. – Add “solar agricultural generator”.
• • Sec. 58-263. Height regulations. – Removed “active solar collector” and replace with “small-scale
solar generator”.
• Sec. 58-293. Height regulations. – Removed “active solar collector” and replace with “small-scale solar
generator”.
• Sec. 58-327. Height regulations. – Removed “active solar collector” and replace with “small-scale solar
generator”.
• Sec. 58-357. Height regulations. – Removed “active solar collector” and replace with “small-scale solar
generator”.
• Sec. 58-419. Height regulations. – Removed “active solar collector” and replace with “small-scale solar
generator”.
• Sec. 58-476. Height regulations. – Removed “active solar collector” and replace with “small-scale solar
generator”.
• Sec. 58-502.5. Uses permitted by conditional use permit. – Add: “(5) Utility scale solar subject to
supplemental regulations as de ned in section 58- 600.”
• Sec. 58-507. Height regulations. – Removed “active solar collector” and replace with “small-scale solar
generator”.
• Add Sec. 58-600. Solar energy systems. – Outlines supplemental regulations for the uses “small-scale
solar generator,” “solar agricultural generator,” and “utility scale solar installation”
The public hearing will be held at the next scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting held on October
3rd , 2024 at 6pm or soon thereafter at 182 Courthouse, on Main Street, New Castle, Virginia.
