The Craig County volleyball team will open Pioneer District play next week when the Rockets play host to Eastern Montgomery on Tuesday, September 17.

The girls dropped their first three non-district matches and had a trip to Smith Mountain Lake Christian on Tuesday of this week, but results were too late for publication. Last week at home the Rockets dropped a three setter to perennial state contender Glenvar. The visiting Highlanders won 25-12, 25-6 and 25-6.

Jenna Boitnotte had three aces and three digs for the Rockets. Layla Dooley had two aces and two digs and Maggie Mays contributed a pair of aces for the Rockets.

In other action this week the middle school team was scheduled to play at Narrows on Monday and at Parry McCluer on Thursday. The jayvees do not play at SML Christian, returning to open next Tuesday’s home doubleheader with East Mont.
